What did we do?

We have started a new topic called Storing Energy.

Today we went out into the corridor to do some experiments with a toy car. We wound the car up once and let it go to see how far it went. Then we wound it up twice and measured how far it went. We did this all the way up to five turns and each time it went further.

 What did we learn?

We learned about the six different types of energy.

We learned what happens to a car when we wind it up.

Questions from Miss Fraser -  STICKER FOR FIRST PERSON TO CORRECTLY ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS IN THE COMMENTS. GOOD LUCK!

1) Name the six different types of energy.

2) Explain what energy changes are happening in the car.

Starting our blog.

I have asked 1P5 if they are interested in starting a science blog and they all agreed that it was a good idea. We will need to think about a few things before we start but the pupils are positive and are looking forward to other people reading about their science class.

I feel like i should explain the name of the blog. Our unofficial class mascot is a dwarf toy from snow white that the kids call gnomey. He was used in an observation game on the first day of term and has been lurking in our classroom ever since. He tends to move about the room and even hide, and the pupils have a mini competition to see who can spot him first. So why not name our blog after him!

Hello world!
